Google has launched the Pixel 10a in India at ₹55,999. That is a lot of money for an “a-series” phone, so the question is fair: is the Pixel 10a a hit or a flop?
Quick disclosure: I have not tested this phone myself. This article is based on Google’s official Pixel 10a listing on the Google Store India. Every spec and price below comes from that page. Where Google does not publish a detail, I say so instead of guessing.

What Google Gets Right
1. Seven years of updates
This is the biggest reason to consider the Pixel 10a. A phone bought today stays supported into the 2030s. Most phones in this price range in India get far less. If you keep phones for 4 to 5 years, this alone changes the value maths.
2. Smart camera features
The hardware is a 48MP main plus 13MP ultrawide, which is modest on paper. Google leans on software instead. Camera Coach uses Gemini models to suggest better angles and lighting. Add Me lets the photographer join the group shot. Google Photos can also merge similar shots so everyone looks their best, and you can edit by simply asking in plain language.
3. Durability that is rare at this level
IP68 water and dust resistance and Gorilla Glass 7i are practical for Indian monsoons, dusty commutes and daily drops. Google also says this is the Pixel A-series phone with the most recycled materials so far.
4. Gemini and everyday AI
Gemini is built in. You get Gemini Live with camera sharing, Circle to Search, and cross-app actions like scheduling and texting from one request. Clear Calling reduces background noise from the caller’s side, which helps in noisy Indian cities.
5. Safety and service
Theft Detection Lock, Remote Lock and Car Crash Detection are included. For repairs, Google lists 20+ walk-in centres across India, and 4 Google-exclusive centres (Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore) open 7 days a week. Repair Mode locks your personal data during servicing. Google also says at least 9 in 10 common repairs finish in under four hours at participating centres if you hand in the phone before 2 PM.
6. iPhone-friendly sharing
Quick Share now works with AirDrop on selected Pixel devices. You can send photos and files to iPhones, iPads and Macs without internet.

Where the Pixel 10a Falls Short
1. Tensor G4 and 8GB RAM at ₹55,999
Google’s own comparison table shows the regular Pixel 10 with the newer Tensor G5 and 12GB RAM, plus a telephoto camera and Pixelsnap wireless charging. The 10a gets Tensor G4 and 8GB. For daily use that is fine, but at this price many buyers expect the latest chip.
2. No charger in the box
You only get a USB-C cable. Google’s 45W USB-C charger is a separate purchase. At this price, that will annoy people.
3. Only two rear cameras, no zoom lens
There is no telephoto camera. If you shoot distant subjects often, the 10a will rely on digital zoom.
4. Single storage option
Only 256GB is offered. That is generous, but you cannot pick a cheaper base variant.

The Pixel 10a is not a flop, but it is not an easy recommendation at ₹55,999 either. Its strengths are real: 7 years of updates, IP68, a smart camera experience, Gemini and strong after-sales support. Its weaknesses are just as clear: older Tensor G4, only 8GB RAM, no telephoto and no charger in the box.
With bank offers and an exchange, the effective price can fall to around ₹49,612, and that is where the 10a makes much more sense. At full price, it is a phone for people who value software and longevity over specs.
